Identity

A question we can ask as we remember how to co express as sovereign beings.

What becomes possible when we stop relating through identity for a moment?

Not because identity is wrong.

Not because our stories don’t matter.

But because so much of human interaction is filtered through names, roles, backgrounds, beliefs, achievements, appearance, status, and history.

We often meet each other’s descriptions before we meet each other.

What happens when those layers become quiet?

What happens when there is no need to explain who we are?

No need to perform.

No need to convince.

No need to be understood.

No need to take a position.

What remains?

I’ve noticed that beneath all of the structures we use to recognize one another, there is something surprisingly simple.

Presence.

The feeling of another human being existing.

Not their biography.

Not their opinions.

Not their accomplishments.

Just their presence.

And perhaps we’ve become so accustomed to relating through information that we’ve forgotten what it feels like to relate through being.

Can human beings feel one another without the usual markers?

Can connection arise before words?

Can we sense each other beyond identity?

Can a shared field emerge simply because people are willing to arrive together?

I don’t know.

But I'd like to explore this with all of you next Saturday in a unique gathering where we remove these identity structures just for a moment.

Perhaps beneath all the layers we normally use to connect is something much more fundamental.

A quiet recognition.

A shared humanity.

A simple awareness that another being is here.

And that somehow changes the atmosphere.

Not through what they say.

Not through what they do.

But through their presence alone.

Maybe there is more available in shared presence than we have yet discovered.
